Short and to the Point

My stay in Winnipeg has ended, so I leave later tonight to fly further west, to Calgary. The temperature in Winnipeg (at the moment) is 9C, and last time I checked, it was 15C in Calgary.

I have a question to ask Jamaicans reading this blog. When and if you respond, please give it some thought. I am looking for some insight and feedback.
I will dutifully respond in a future blog session.

1. Should the Government streamline the process of registering/creating business ventures?
2. Do you think that the diaspora should invest or create a business in Jamaica?
3. If the diaspora creates a business investment, should this venture create jobs and stride to make a profit?
4. Should the diaspora be allowed to compete in the Government bidding process?

Thanks

Will think it over and get back to you, but I already think that the Jamaican diaspora should have an active role.

Ok i am willing to take on this challenge:

1. I assume we are talking the Jamaican Govt. here... yes the govt NEEDS!!!! to improve the whole process of encouraging and developing business ventures. Furtherance to that, there is a need for a socio-economic venture capital fund... which would be accessible by both the diaspora and the citizen. This would be the catalyst for high earning business.

2.I think remittances are just social safety net that encourages laziness, and dependencies, and if the diaspora really want to help their relative out here, then their monies would be best served in investing in business. Setting up a structure through the diaspora organisations which will monitor and ensure that their objectives will be met. Which would be earnig some money and providing jobs for their relatives.

3. question three basically repeats or embodiesw question 2.

4. A resounding YES!!! and i also believe if the diaspora has the inclination they should be allowed a structure inclusive of regulatory mechanism and controls outline the conditions underv which the diaspora can participate in the electoral process.
